Forbes Top Publication Shared by CMOs

Last month we unveiled a new feature to The CMO Corner: The CMO Social Stat of the Month. Partnering with Leadtaila social strategy firm that has built a panel of over 1,000 B2B and B2C CMOs and marketing executives located in North America and active on Twitter that develops social insights reports on CMOs and other decision makers - we'll bring you a social stat which is based on data from the previous month.

Each month the stat will be presented via a chart similar to the one below.

Here's a quick legend regarding the colors and what they represent:

Blue = Did not rank in the Top 50 in the previous month

Green = Moved up in ranking over last month

Red = Moved down in ranking over last month

Black = No change over last month

Below is The CMO Social Stat of the Month for September 2015 - Top Publications Shared by CMOs over the month of October, 2015. As Karri Carlson, VP Social Insights at Leadtail says "this is a solid 'reading list' for the modern/aspiring CMO. If you're up on what these pubs are covering, chances are you can go from board room to cocktail party without missing a beat."

As a Forbes contributor myself, specifically to the CMO Network, I am not surprised to see it come in #1. There are many excellent contributors for sure. In terms of movers and shakers on the list, a few that stick out are the WSJ blogs, which dropped a whopping 23 places and the Wall Street Journal itself, which moved up 4 places.

Now, keep in mind there are many WSJ blogs so we don't know if all blogs saw a decrease or only specific ones. Regardless, any publication that saw a drop of 23 spots is worth mentioning.

Another one that caught my was the inclusion of CIO.com (#50). Carlson believes this is a sign that the much-heralded CMO+CIO relationship is finally getting serious. "It's a reasonably safe bet we'll see more tech pubs cracking the top 50 list heading into 2016 as CMOs continue to beef up their technical chops and drive more of the digital agenda for their organizations," says Carlson.

This also speaks to one of the main reasons we created - in partnership with The CMO Club, The CMO Solution Guide to Leveraging New Technology and Marketing Platforms.
